Big News, Little News

It's been a while since I wrote, so I need to update on what is going on. For one, I've legally changed my name. It cost a good amount but I'm glad I went with a lawyer. I could have saved money, but I don't want to take any chances if I don't have to. Anyway, I love my name, and I think once I start getting forms that have it on there I will feel a bit more excited. I've had to mail out change of whatever forms to everyone and i'm still waiting on some things. I've heard some people have had good luck in getting their gender changed on their driver's licenses in Austin, so I'm going to go and try that and see if I can get someone to do me a favor.

Aside from that, spring break is over, and I've to get back to work. I went down to Houston to visit my dad and step-mom. It was good to see them again but they both (my dad in particular) struggled with pronoun and name issues, more so than normal. It was pretty disheatening to hear all the him, he, his, etc... It was one thing back when I was a bit more androdgenous, now, though, I'm much more feminine and even now have my name legally that of a girls.

It's things like that, that make me not want to go back. I know they are trying, but it is still troublesome.

No real news on romance, The occasional wild make out romp, but nothing new and extraordinary, though still enjoyable.

On the election

Well I am quite happy with the turnout, This is the first in a long step towards equal rights for us trans folk, and the further back into the recesses of those old church pews the Neo-Conservatives are pushed the better my life becomes.

This was a pivotal moment for us, the younger generation, to show that we do have a voice, and that if you listen to us, you can gain our support. I think that future elections will have to at least address our causes and concerns as time goes on. There was a big risk of the youth vote not turning out, and perhaps loosing a political voice for the next two decades at least. They did however, show up, and in record numbers. I am quite  proud of the younger generation, and I feel this is a great moment in history.

News: Rants & Raves

Found some good articles online today, good reads:

The Crude oil Illusion - 500 dollar oil not far out. & How we became the United States of France

Both are from trusted sources, CNN and TIME are usually pretty bi-partisan. Regardless, both are lengthy reads but very good. Similar to a lot of the rants that I've been making to others around here, but you know, no one listens to me.

That said, I think I'm about done with politics, I'm just to tired of the competitive bash-a-thon "debates" that take place between misinformed zealots who can't approach a concept with an open mind, or separate themselves from their beliefs.

Anyways, I've got a lot to do in the next week, at least two more tests, one assigment, one essay, and an ungodly amount of reading to prepare for said test. *sigh* a womans work is never done.
